It is strawberry season and we have the cutest U-Pick strawberry farm near us. I have an admission to make, I had never been to U-Pick farm until last Saturday. This may not seem strange to you, but I have been living within 15 miles of them for almost 20 years. However, since I work in the Ag business, going to a farm to pick my own produce never interested me.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After a 6-week shelter in place order, Texas finally opened parks and outdoor businesses. I wanted to get out of the house, so I decided to take a drive out to Pecan Creek Strawberry Farm. I was not the only one who had this brilliant idea. They opened at 10:00 am and I arrived at 10:21 and I was the LAST car allowed in. The parking lot was packed, and the strawberry field was already full of pickers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We were required to purchase a reusable plastic picking bucket for $3.00. I was told to save my bucket and bring it back on subsequent visits. I began my walk into the field in search of some red ripe berries. As I walked down the rows, there were young children everywhere squealing in delight when they found the perfect berry. I loved watching their excitement which made my experience that much more enjoyable. This is the perfect outdoor activity for families. What better way can you teach your kids to appreciate fresh grown fruits and vegetables?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Within 45 minutes my bucket was full. Will I come back again? YES, of course! I have to say these strawberries were some of sweetest I have ever eaten. Here is a simple and easy dessert you can make for dinner using fresh strawberries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Strawberries Romanoff<\/h2>\n\t\t

This light and refreshing dessert is versatile enough to serve at an elegant brunch or at a casual BBQ. It is easy and quick to make.. This dessert is best when it is eaten on the same day it is made.<\/p>\t<\/p>\n\t

  • Electric mixer<\/li><\/ul>\t<\/div>\n\t
    \n\t\t
    • 2 pints fresh ripe strawberries, hulled and sliced<\/li>
    • 3 tbsp granulated sugar<\/li>
    • 4 tbsp Grand Marnier\u00a0orange liqueur<\/li>
    • 1 cup cold heavy whipping cream<\/li>
    • 1\/4 cup powdered sugar<\/li>
    • 1\/4 cup sour cream<\/li><\/ul>\t<\/div>\n\t

      1. In a medium bowl, combine sliced strawberries, 3 Tbsp of sugar and 4 Tbsp of Grand Marnier. Mix together. Cover and refrigerate 1 hour stirring occasionally.<\/p><\/li>

      2. In a separate bowl combine 1 cup of cold heavy whipping cream and 1\/4 cup of powdered sugar. Beat with electric mixer until stiff peaks form. Using a spatula, fold in 1\/4 cup of the sour cream until well blended.<\/p><\/li>

      3. Divide strawberries into 8 glass bowls or glasses. Top with whipped cream just before serving. This dessert is taste the best on the same day it is made. Enjoy!<\/p><\/li><\/ol>\t<\/div>\n\t
