Dr. Carrillo is a double board-certified, dual-fellowship trained oral and maxillofacial surgeon specializing in jaw (orthognathic) surgery and facial cosmetic surgery. He focuses on facial transformation — combining skeletal correction, facial balance, and airway optimization to create natural, life-changing results.

Known for his calm, empathetic approach, Dr. Carrillo believes in guiding his patients every step of the way — from the first consultation to full recovery — so they feel informed, supported, and confident throughout their journey.

He serves as Fellowship Director of the Advanced Orthognathic Surgery Program, he is a Clinical Assistant Professor at Baylor College of Medicine, and he works closely with the Craniofacial Team at Texas Children’s Hospital.

In addition to his specialty focus, Dr. Carrillo practices the full scope of oral and maxillofacial surgery, including wisdom teeth removal, guided dental implant placement, bone grafting and reconstruction, TMJ disorders, jaw cysts and tumors, facial trauma, IV sedation and pediatric oral and maxillofacial surgery.

Hobbies and Interests

Outside the operating room, Dr. Carrillo is a devoted husband and father of two. He enjoys hiking, playing guitar, cooking, and reading. A lifelong learner, he’s passionate about personal growth and exploring new challenges. Fun fact: before becoming a surgeon, Dr. Carrillo was a professional guitar player, and he’s also a skilled dancer and chef — talents he now shares with his family on weekends.

Education and Training

Doctor of Medicine (MD)

Dr. Carrillo earned his DDS from the UANL School of Dentistry in Mexico, graduating with honors at the top of his class. He completed two years of surgical internships at UANL Metropolitan Hospital and the University of Puerto Rico, followed by a rigorous four-year oral and maxillofacial surgery residency at the University of Puerto Rico, where he also earned a Master of Science in Dentistry focused on craniofacial development and orthognathic surgery.

He then pursued dual advanced fellowships: the first in Facial Cosmetic Surgery at FACES Surgery: Center for Plastic & Maxillofacial Surgery, with intensive training in facial aesthetics — including rhinoplasty, chin and jawline surgery, facial and neck liposuction, fat transfer, facial implants, deep plane face and neck lifts, and non-surgical rejuvenation. His second fellowship was in Advanced Orthognathic Surgery at Alfi Oral, Dental Implant & Facial Surgery, where he focused on custom-guided jaw surgery, airway procedures for sleep apnea, and complex pediatric reconstruction. This unique training allows Dr. Carrillo to combine functional and aesthetic surgery in a single, integrated plan — optimizing outcomes for patients seeking facial harmony, improved breathing, and a balanced profile.
